Revenue from The Alpha Workshops’ design studios covers 50% of the costs of our educational programs, but we still rely on the generosity of friends, colleagues, and enlightened institutions to fund the balance of our operating costs. Each donation makes a very real difference in people’s lives.

The Alpha Workshops is 501(c)(3) non-profit and all gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. There are many different ways to help: honorary gifts, event sponsorships, contributions to The Jamie Drake Scholarship Fund, gifts in-kind, volunteerism, and specifying or purchasing Alpha product for an interior project.

$35 = one Basic Trainee’s weekly lunch stipend
$70 = one tool kit for a Basic Trainee
$200 = 200 yards of coated paper for our wallpapers
$300 = one field trip to a museum, historic house, or design show for 10 trainees
$700 = 10 gallons of paint
$1,600 = an artist’s monthly health insurance
$3,500 = one month’s rent for our Basic Training Classroom
$8,000 = materials and staffing costs for an off-site team on a renovation project
$10,000 = the salary of one entry-level part-time decorative artist in our studio

THE JAMIE DRAKE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Jamie Drake Scholarship Fund enables qualified, eligible individuals to enroll in the Alpha Workshops Studio School regardless of their ability to receive government-funded tuition assistance. The Jamie Drake Scholarship Fund replaces state revenue permanently lost during the recession. The Fund provides full tuition support to twenty students each year. Scholarship students benefit from both the Introduction to Decorative Arts and the Advanced Decorative Arts Techniques courses.

HONORARY GIFTS

Alpha gladly accepts donations in the name of friends, family members, or loved ones no longer here. We also welcome gifts given in honor of joyous occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries.

VOLUNTEERING

IN-KIND DONATIONS

The Alpha Workshops gratefully accepts donations of:

• New educational materials – paint, primers, paper, paintbrushes, metal leaf, plaster, design books
• Tickets to showhouses, museums, and historic houses for educational site visits
• New technology – computers, tablets, iPhones, scanners, studio lighting, etc.
• Pro-bono services such as catering, advertising, videography, and event photography
• Pro-bono event spaces for fundraising and donor cultivation
